Patients often tell us how much they appreciate the compassionate care they receive at NHCH. We like hearing this and work hard to provide the best care possible to everyone who comes through our doors. Yet we know that in some areas we need to do more.
One area that has had our attention is the Emergency Department (ED). During the last several years, NHCH has considered various options, presented by consultants and architects, for improving the ED. Currently the project is moving forward with minor renovations to prepare for the anticipated seasonal increase in patient visits. Major renovations are pending a decision on the possible relationship with The Queen’s Health Systems, which would dictate the strategic direction of the project.
Much has been accomplished to date in order to prepare for improvements to the ED. Two modular buildings have been built to provide space for departments required to relocate, releasing space for the expanded ED. New parking stalls to accommodate these modular buildings have been completed. And numerous pieces of capital equipment needed by the ED today have been acquired.
