Alcy "Shorty" Johnson started volunteering at NHCH on April 11, 1996, even before NHCH officially opened. Shorty, as he preferred to be called, manned the Information Desk in the front lobby of NHCH on Friday mornings. His warm smile and positive personality made him a true Ambassador of Aloha.

Congratulations to Valerie Carpio, Medical Records Clerk, for being selected as NHCH’s Employee of the Month for August 2011. Val has been with NHCH for over the last 14 years and she has worked as a Nurse Aide, Unit Secretary in Imaging and Unit Secretary / Registration in the Emergency Department.

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is an international organization, with a chapter on the Big Island in Waikoloa. Five mothers and their keiki from Waikoloa MOPS Chapter graciously donated handmade quilts sewed with love and made from their own child's baby clothing as material.
