AFMC Progress Update
Posted on Friday, March 30, 2012

The Adult and Family Medicine Clinic (AFMC) is beginning to welcome patients.  Thanks to contributions totaling almost $200,000 from more than 245 donors, the AFMC has completed renovation of two of the four new patient exam rooms planned for the clinic.  These exam rooms feature natural light with beautiful views of Waimea and are part of the new physician space located in the hospital.

The North Hawai‘i Medical Group’s Adult and Family Medicine Clinic shares location with the Native Hawaiian Health Clinic, which opened in September 2011.  Both clinics are led by Dr. Malcolm MacDonald, who has more than 20 years of primary care experience.  Dr. MacDonald graduated from the University of California - San Diego School of Medicine in 1987 and is Board Certified in Family Practice Medicine.

The hospital not only is renovating space to accommodate the AFMC but also will be developing new facilities for additional primary care physicians and specialists who will be recruited.  Thanks to all AFMC donors, including Bob and Carol Momsen, Simperman-Corette Foundation, Rick and Barbara Green, Robert and Alice Guild, Paul and Judy Andrews, Randy and Vicky Lynn, Steve and Deena Hurwitz, and Sam and Laurie Ainslie.  The remaining AFMC patient exam rooms will be renovated and completed this summer.
