Mauna Kea is a magnificent mountain…the tallest mountain on earth when measured from the ocean floor. It is renowned for its natural, cultural and scientific values.

NHCH announced the opening of an exhibit of stunning photographs, on display in the Lucy Henriques exhibit corridor. Dr. Robert Shallenberger has been photographing Mauna Kea from the air, ground and sea for more than 30 years.

His photographs reflect the many moods of this majestic mountain and have been published in Audubon, National Geographic, Aloha, National Wildlife and Defenders. The University of Hawaii Press has recently published his photographic book, Hawaiian Birds of the Sea. His aerial, scenic and nature photos can be viewed at his website, Dr. Shallenberger is donating 30% of the proceeds from the sale of exhibit photo prints to NHCH.
