An 11-year-old boy has taken his recent experiences in emergency rooms and hospitals and created a project to provide comfort items for children who may have similar experiences in an emergency room or hospital.

Kaden Bruce and his mother Natalie recently visited North Hawaii Community Hospital to drop off dozens of comfort packs for children who are seen in the emergency room and facing uncertainly, whether it be transportation to Oahu or admission to the hospital.

Within just a few days of the first delivery, the first comfort pack was given to a young child who was seen in the emergency room and later admitted. The family was so moved by Kaden’s generosity that they posted their appreciation on Instagram.

Kaden has engaged local schools in his project and launched Strong 1 — Kids Loving Kids, an online fundraising effort (www.youcaring.com/strong1kids).

Many thanks to Kaden and others involved in providing comfort to our keiki.
