Hospital Offers Nutrition Education

North Hawai’i Community Hospital’s clinical dietitian is available to speak to community schools, support groups, churches and clubs about healthy eating and meal planning.  Sessions usually last 30-45 minutes and can include a food tasting if desired.  Topics include:

  • Nutrition 101 (general, healthful diet)
  • Learn about diets such as the Mediterranean diet, the Mind diet, the Dash diet, and others
  • Meal planning for hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, etc.
  • Healthy eating on a limited budget
  • Cancer & nutrition
  • Family nutrition
  • Healthy snacks
  • Reading food labels
  • Grocery store tours
  • Food safety
  • Mindful eating
  • Other topics by request
