Sew Fun Program Donates Special Blankets for Patients

Patients undergoing treatment at North Hawai’i Community Hospital will have a little brighter day thanks to the generosity and skills of the wonderful members of the Sew Fun Program.

The Sew Fun program, a group that teaches children as well as adults how to sew, donated dozens of beautiful, hand sewn prayer blankets to be given to hospital patients.

Sew Fun is a joint venture of the Sew Creative Shop, the Honoka'a United Methodist Church, and other local community groups, and is funded with grants and donations.  Participants learn the proper use of sewing machines, as well as selecting fabric, choosing colors and patterns, and cutting and pressing fabric. Participants create numerous projects throughout the year including the prayer blankets, pillowcases for foster children, and aprons for residents at Hale Ho'ola Hamakua. For further information, call the Honoka'a United Methodist Church at 775-0566.
