Leap Baby Arrives!
Posted on Tuesday, March 08, 2016

Nevaeh Kahanuola Tanoue joined a special group when she was born at North Hawaii Community Hospital on February 29, Leap Day. The chances of being born on Leap Day are only 1 in 1,461, and of the more than 7 billion people in the world, only 4 million have been born on a leap day. Parents Cybil Ebreo-Castillo and Paul Ikaika Tanoue of Honaka’a, were so excited about the arrival of their daughter they didn’t even think about her being born on Leap Day until friends and family pointed it out. Nevaeh, which is “heaven” spelled backwards, will join brother Aiden, 16 months, and according to family, will be celebrating her birthdays on March 1 so as not to miss any!
